14 Jan 2012: New Beginnings
Ustaz Tarmizi:
The only one without a beginning & ending is Allah. All others including US has a beginning and ending.
Every single day, renew my life. It is my 1st day of the rest of my life. Wake up from sleep is a new beginning. Start off by being thankful to Allah for a brand new day.
In the name of Allah, the most gracious and most merciful. Islam emphasizes a lot on new beginnings. Always start an act with Allah's name to receive the blessings.
How you finish is more important than how you begin. Story of repentance: A man who kill 100 people. He passed away during his journey to seek for repentance. Due to his sincere intention to repent, Allah grants him paradise.
Make a change. DO IT NOW! Do not procrastinate pls!
The gift of Goodbye. The ending of something in your life does not necessary be a calamity. It can be a blessing in disguise. A lot of entrepreneurs who once failed in their life, strive back and become successful.
The challenge to start. Get a buddy who knows your intention and able to support you to start the new beginning.
Involve Allah throughout our journey in any beginnings. Do not be selective when the opportunities come by. Allah has bless us with the signs to work on the opportunities to start.
The temptation to delay. If our beloved enemy could not stop us from worship, he will make us delay our worship to Allah. Resist the temptation to delay a good opportunity for change.
Our value in Allah's eyes. Despite our sinful acts, Allah still see the value in each of us. Example of a crumpled and stained $50 note and story of Umar, second Muslim Caliph, who opposed Islam and had the intention to murder Prophet Muhammad. However when he read what his sister has been reciting, he was struck with the beauty of the verses and embraced Islam. Instead of murdering Prophet Muhammad, Umar converted in from of Prophet.
Steps to new beginnings:
Step 1: Consciously Decide
Step 2: Change for the right reasons.
Step 3: Move to a new environment
Step 4: Spend more time with supportive peers.
The signs of success in the end, is when the turning to Allah is in the new beginning.
Ustaz Irwan Hadi:
Recite Bismillahirahmannirrahim, in the name of Allah the most gracious and most merciful. Affirming our intention, consciousness towards Allah. Rahman (mercy) appearing 315 times in the Quran. Allah's rahmah s as side as the heavens and the earth. And every single rahmah we experience here on earth is only 1% of tits entirety. Allah reserve 99% of Rahmah for the day of judgement. Eg. of one form of Rahmah is a mother's love to her children.
When does life begin? "Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler." If we are a stranger in a foreign country, we will be wary of things around us so as not to become a victim of conman. Hence being in this world, we must be wary and conscious of our actions which will determine our journey to attaining Allah's pleasure.
Seizing opportunities for change. Ibn Umar r.a. used to say: "When the night comes, do not wait for the day and when the day comes, do not wait for the night. Take from your health for your sickness and take from your life for your death" [Sahih Bukhari]
Be a far-sighted person. We plan our life for eternal happiness which is in Jannah.
Realigning ourselves to Allah. Our ultimate goal is to please Allah and gaining his pleasure through increasing our good deeds. To ensure good deeds, we must check out intentions.
Allah is always ready to embrace us. The Prophet s.a.w. said, "Allah the most high said, 'I am as my servant thinks I am. I am with him when he mentions Me. If he mentions me to himself, I mention him to Myself and if he mentions Me in a an assembly, I mention him in a assembly greater than it.'"
